A female patient presented in our clinic, complaining of hair loss on her head. On examination, there were two round-shaped areas (2*2cm) of hair loss with very few hairs in the center. The duration of disease was 3 months. We inserted 8 stainless steel needles (0.30mm, 1 Cun) around these areas for 30 minutes. After the withdrawal of these needles, we applied plum-blossom needles in the diseased areas, tapping while inserting needles from the periphery to the center (for about 10 minutes) until the local skin was slightly red with a little bleeding. New hairs were seen in the diseased areas after 5 times of treatment.
