Tips: Applying moxibustion on ginger on LU 6 (Kongzui) can treat chronic hemoptysis.

I have treated several patients with chronic hemoptysis from tuberculosis by using moxibustion on ginger on LU 6 (Kongzui) and the outcomes were very good. The mothods are as follows. Ask the patient to sits or lie on treatment table. Apply medicinal oil (Wan Hua You) on LU 6 (Kongzui). Slice ginger into 2-3mm pieces and insert needles through ginger pieces so that the warmth from moxibustion can better infiltrate into the acupoints through the tiny holes.

Put lotus-sized moxa cones on the ginger pieces which are positioned on LU 6 (Kongzui) on both sides. When the patient has local burning sensation, slowly move the ginger pieces around the acupoints to reduce the stimulation to the acupoints. When the moxa cone is burned out, use a new one. Apply 5-7 moxa cones to each acupoint; the treatment ends when there is local burning sensation and redness with no blister. The treatment is performed once every 3 days and lasts 4 weeks.

Notes

LU 6 (Kongzui), the Cleft-Xi point of Lung meridian, is used to treat blood syndrome. I have applied them for chronic hymotysis from tuberculosis and achieved very good effects.
